We all know the South Korean entertainment industry is becoming famous in the international scene rapidly. Thanks to their quirky yet charming K-dramas, and let’s not forget the ever popular K-pop, their entertainment industry is actually raking in millions (if not billions) of mullahs internationally— subsequently playing a vital role in S. Korea’s economy, not to mention continuously promoting Korean culture all over the globe. So what have they done right that people can’t get enough of their K-dramas and K-pop songs? Well, honestly speaking, I can only assume because I really think it’s a phenomenon. And like all phenomena, they are hard to explain—but let me try. Here are the reasons why, I THINK, the K-culture is booming right now:
So Met Gala 2017 happened last Monday night and let me just say what a treat it was! I’m sure many fashionistas across the globe feel the same way too. Why? With all the A-list celebrities—you know, as in everyone who is anyone—attending the event, the more appropriate question, I think, should be: Why the hell not? Aside from the star power, I personally look forward to the event because of their themes. Marking the grand opening of the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit, we expect celebrities to look their most daring, most original, and most elegant in the gala. You see, when it comes to the world of fashion, it’s definitely one of the most anticipated get-together every year. In other words, let’s just say that the Met Gala is the Super Bowl of fashion.
Like I said in my previous blog, I just can’t wait for summer to arrive. And as we feel the temperature starting to intensify, so does our need—nay, DESIRE to hit the beach wearing nothing but those skimpy bikinis. Well, I guess Sports Illustrated can’t wait any longer (low EQ much? Kidding! Lol!) as they’ve launched this year’s much-awaited swimsuit edition. And I must say oh boy, talk about hotness overload what with Kate Upton headlining the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2017! Don’t believe me? Check these out!
K-pop, K-drama, K-fashion—it seems like everything “K” is taking over the world by storm. And in the middle of these world invasion? If you’re into anything “K”, you’ve probably heard of the name Lee Sung Kyung. The 26-year-old actress/model from Seoul is definitely a force to be reckoned with in show business. In fact, W Magazine (you know, one of the top fashion mags in the world) even dubbed her as the Gigi Hadid of South Korea! Now that’s saying something. What with several hit TV shows (Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo being the latest) in the bag, a successful modeling career, and with more than 5.5 million followers on Instagram to boot, it’s really not that hard to place her in the upper echelons of stardom. So how did she make her way into the showbiz pinnacle? It’s not an easy journey, that’s for sure.
