Makeup Trends 2017: New Stuff to be Obsessed With

2016 is done, over, finished, concluded, terminated, no more, and not to mention, in the past. That only means that we must say goodbye to the trends that have gone by. Before we move on, however, I would like to say farewell and thank you to 2016 for an amazing year in makeup. Sincerely, the past year has really been great for makeup with all the attention and interest it’s been getting. What with the gazillions of makeup trends last year, including rainbow highlighters and matte lipsticks, who can deny that 2016 was a great year for beauty and makeup? But like I said, that year is over and it’s time to move on to new trends.

Now, I’m really looking forward to what 2017 has to offer when it comes to makeup. Exciting really. According to the buzzes in the biz, beauty and makeup trends from the past are making a comeback this year. Well, not really the same ones but updated, “wearable” versions. Plus, I’ve been hearing and reading about contrasting color trends—from multicolored hues to monochromes. Well, it’s definitely something to look forward to, dontcha think?

Anyways, enough with the intro. From what I’ve heard, seen, and read, here are some of the up and coming beauty and makeup trends this year:

Makeup Trends #1: Lip Gloss

Yup, it’s definitely a refreshing change from the seemingly flat matte lips. It can actually give dimension, shine, and youth to our kissers. So move over matte lips, gloss is definitely back.

Makeup Trends #2: Blush Draping

In the past couple of years, contouring has been one of the most popular makeup tricks we’ve seen in years. This year, however, it’s finally taking a backseat as the blush draping technique is taking over. The best thing about it is it lets your skin breathe, not to mention it helps you look more fresh.

Makeup Trends #3: Monochromatic

2017 will surely be colorful but as we, active ladies, would say: we don’t have the luxury of time to color-coordinate. Thank god for this year’s monochromatic makeup trend. Just choose a color or tone, and just stick with it all throughout your face. Easy, right?

Makeup Trends #4: ’80s Shadow

When it comes to the ’80s fashion, we always have these prejudices against it. Let go of these biases and it’s definitely back with a vengeance, But this time, it’s going to be more refined and classy. Like the contrasting “colored” eyeshadow trend this year.

Keep in mind that these trends are just some of the stuff I hear about, and I’m sure there will be a lot more. From the way things are going for the beauty and makeup industry this early into 2017, this year will definitely be a colorful year for us makeup enthusiasts! So excited to see what’s in store for us!
