Twinning: The Fine Art of Dressing Up The Same

In this blog post, I’ve decided to talk about twinning. Yes, it’s a word. Don’t ask me where the word came from. All I know is that it’s a “thing” these days. If I could remember correctly, the word caught up about a couple (or so) years ago and it actually stuck. Now for those who have been out of the loop in the past couple of years, it is, basically, dressing up in matchy-matchy outfits. Doesn’t matter who they are—fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, sweethearts, BFFs, or actual twins—as long as you wore something similar, it’s called twinning.

What Is Twinning And What Are The Reasons Behind It

You see, twinning means totally different things to different people. For couples, wearing matching clothes means declaring to the world how much they love their significant other. Well, either that, or perhaps a way of telling people that they are happily taken. For friends, it’s actually a lot more complicated. As we all know, friends share a lot of tastes in music, food, and style—it’s the reason why you’re friends, isn’t it? Well, this could only mean that friends’ twinnings  could either be coincidental (since they both have the same tastes in clothes), or that they are fully aware of it and that they’ve actually talked beforehand to clothes-coordinate. Case in point? BFF hotties Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner. There’s no doubt in my mind that their twinnings are coordinated. Not that I’m complaining because—well, just look at them! They’re definitely winning at twinning, right?

Family Ties: Winning at Twinning

Aside from couples and friends, who do we always see  sporting matching clothes? Families, of course. Yep, the twinning craze aren’t just about friends and lovers, it’s actually happening within households as well. In fact, families have been doing it way longer than BFFs and SOs. I’m sure you’ve seen dads and moms sporting similar—color coordinated, same prints, themed, etc.—clothes with their children. For me, they look so adorable, don’t you think so? Just look at the pictures below, I’m pretty sure you’ll find them cute:
