Out of the blue, you’re going out on a date this weekend when that cute boy next door asked you out. Though you’re ecstatic, you realize that you’re not ready yet when you noticed that you’ve put on some weight. You’re probably thinking: “How can I fit into that cute little black dress that’s on sale online?” How about that sexy outfit you’ve saving for months for occasions such as this?
Now, you’re probably cursing yourself for getting that extra helping of red velvet cake two days ago!
Of course, as a friend, I would always advice that proper diet and exercise are still the best way to lose weight. However, I understand that sometimes there will be situations such as these when we just can’t wait to shed some of that extra pounds. So in light of this, I would like to share some outfit hacks that will help you look slimmer without even shedding some pounds:
Outfit Hack #1: High, Pointy Shoes
Yes, shoes will play a huge role in making you look thinner. The trick here is to make your legs look longer as possible. So what types of shoes should you go for? Stilettos and pumps are definitely the best way to go as they make legs appear longer and slimmer.. Low-cut vamps, shoes with pointy toes, as well as skin-toned shoes (or what others call “nude” shoes) can also help make your legs look longer.
Outfit Hack #2: All Black
As they say, you can never go wrong with black outfits. That’s because aside from being classy and elegant, black clothes (and other dark colors) can make you look thinner.
Outfit Hack #3: Vertical Stripes
Vertical stripes create long lines, thus creating an illusion of length. That’s why same with black clothes, clothes with vertical lines can help you appear taller and slimmer.
Outfit Hack #4: Perfect Fit
As you may have noticed, the key here is always to make yourself look longer, thus leaner. That’s why it is crucial that your clothes fits you perfectly. This includes not only your waist line but the hem line as well. So make sure that your pants are not too cropped and that the hem line is at the ankle area. Same goes with your blazers and jackets. Always make sure the seams sit perfectly on the tops of your shoulders, and of course, the sleeves hit exactly at your wrist.
Outfit Hack #5: Define Waist
By accentuating your waist with a skinny belt, you can trick the eye into thinking you have longer legs. This will, in turn, make you look longer and leaner.
In the fashion world, the “tricks” I’ve mentioned above are just some of the secrets of the trade. Of course there are a lot more out there, and if you have any suggestions, please feel free to add on to this list by commenting in the comments section below.
Well, that’s it! I hope this will be of help to you. You can also check out the items featured in the images by clicking on the images or on the links.
